Australian National Rally, April 15-22
The Jaguar Drivers Club of Queensland hosted the National Rally this year, writes Bob Alexander. HQ was in Caloundra (an hour’s drive north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast) with participants from all six States and the Australian Capital Territory, plus one from New Zealand: in all, around 180 participants and 100 Jaguars.
On the PRT we set off north to Harvey Bay, then west to Childers, Gayndah (citrus capital of Australia), south to Kingaroy (peanut capital of Australia) and finishing south in Toowoomba with its beautiful gardens. There were many highlights, but for us it was the day trip to Fraser Island: a world heritage sand island surprisingly supporting a vast diversity of vegetation and a colony of beautiful wild Dingos. Among the 25 Jaguars on the tour were four E-types and three XKs: two from Perth and the other from Forbes, NSW. I have captured them in photos at the Display Day and at
Gayndha Bowling Club.
In 2017 it will be the turn of the Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia (NSW) to host the NR and PRT, based in Nelson Bay (two hours north of Sydney). Perhaps some of the folks participating in the NZ Tour may like to stop over on their way back?

Sunday July 16th – Sculptural Cars in an appropriate setting!

Please contact Paul Abadjian for more information. If you would like to make a ‘Dorset weekend’ of it, Paul can also supply accommodation suggestions. For more details please click here.
USA Midwest – Going to the Sun Rally, September 2017
We often see articles on the rallies in Europe and the UK and thought this might be of interest, even if it is a long way to come, writes Jim Kakuska. The Rally is based in Montana and each year explores the areas from Glacier National Park to Yellowstone, from the Beartooth Pass to the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho, and this year the Okanogan Valley in British Columbia (“The pic, by Will Brewster, shows us on the informally-named ‘Better than Sex’ highway between Libby and Whitefish, MT,” laughs Sally). All provide great roads for driving, scenic vistas, and a unique camaraderie among the participants. See www.goingtothesunrally.org.
